What's Different About Installing in Brooklyn
Owner-landlords and small buildings. A lot of Brooklyn intercom work is for people who own one building with a few tenants. They don't need a board proposal — they need a clear price, a system that works, and someone who shows up. We size the system to the building and don't oversell.
Brownstone construction. Brownstone and brick facades, original doors, and stoops that are the whole point of the house. We place panels and run cable to protect the facade, and we'll recommend a compact station over a full-size panel when it fits better.
Historic districts. Park Slope, Brooklyn Heights, Fort Greene, Clinton Hill, Bed-Stuy, and others have landmarked blocks. We choose placements and hardware that respect the exterior and can advise when Landmarks review might apply.

Replacing an Old Intercom in a Brooklyn Building
Most of our Brooklyn work is replacement. The buzzer panel by the door is older than the tenants, half the handsets are dead, and the landlord has been letting people in by phone.
We evaluate what's there — the panel, apartment stations, wiring, door-release hardware, and power — and tell you what can stay and what has to go. In prewar buildings, the riser wiring is often reusable. In brownstones, an app-based or compact video station usually replaces everything at the door with nothing to run inside. Door strikes and panel locations frequently carry over.
