Intercom Repair Brooklyn
Front door won't buzz open? Half the building can't hear the intercom? Impera repairs audio, video and app-based intercoms in brownstones, walk-ups, co-ops, condos and storefronts across Brooklyn, from our shop on Avenue M in Midwood.
We find the actual cause (a failed door release, a bad station, damaged wiring or a dead power supply), fix it, and test every apartment before we leave. We service systems installed by other companies too, including older Lee Dan and Elvox systems.

Intercom Repair for Every Kind of Brooklyn Building
Brooklyn's housing runs from 1890s brownstones to glass towers built last year, and each kind of building has its own intercom problems.
Brownstones and townhouses. Most have a small audio or video system with 2 to 4 stations, often decades old. The usual problems are a door release that buzzes but won't open, a station on one floor that stopped working, or worn wiring in the vestibule. We repair what's there when parts are available, and protect historic doors and frames when we replace hardware.
Walk-ups and small apartment buildings. Four- and six-story buildings in neighborhoods like Bed-Stuy, Crown Heights, Bushwick and Sunset Park often run older audio systems from brands like Lee Dan, with wiring that's been spliced over the years. A single bad station or a shorted wire can take down the whole building. We trace the fault floor by floor instead of guessing.
Prewar co-ops and large apartment buildings. Elevator buildings along Ocean Parkway, Eastern Parkway and in Flatbush, Midwood and Brooklyn Heights often have large legacy systems with a central amplifier and dozens of apartment stations. We repair amplifiers, power supplies and risers, and help boards plan a phased upgrade when parts run out.
New condos and rentals. Newer buildings in Williamsburg, Greenpoint, Downtown Brooklyn and along the waterfront usually have IP or cloud intercoms like ButterflyMX, 2N or Akuvox. Problems here are often network, app or programming issues, and we fix many of them remotely or in one visit.
Storefronts and mixed-use buildings. Shops with apartments upstairs need the residential entrance and the business entrance kept separate. We repair and re-program systems so tenants and the business each control their own door.

Repair or Replace?
We always try repair first. Replacement makes sense when:
Parts are gone. Many older systems are no longer made, so a failed amplifier or station can't be matched.
The same problem keeps coming back. Repeated failures usually point to old wiring or a failing main unit.
The building wants new features, like video, phone answering or delivery codes.
If replacement is the better choice, we'll explain why in writing and show you the options, including reusing your existing wiring where it's in good shape. A full intercom replacement done for the building owner may also qualify as a capital improvement, which makes it exempt from New York sales tax.
