Commercial Security Systems NYC
Your business needs to know who's coming in, see what happened when something goes wrong, and get an alert when the doors are opened after hours. Impera designs and installs commercial security systems that do all three: cameras, access control, video intercoms and alarms, working together and managed from your phone.
We work with offices, retail stores, restaurants, warehouses, medical practices and commercial building owners across Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens. We plan each system around how your business actually runs: your hours, your staff, your doors and your insurance requirements.

What We Install for Businesses
Security cameras
High-resolution cameras for entrances, registers, stock rooms, loading docks, parking and storefronts. Smart search finds a person or vehicle in seconds instead of hours of scrolling. Watch live or play back from your phone, and keep footage on site or in the cloud.

Access control
Replace keys with fobs, cards, PIN codes or phone unlock. Give each employee, cleaner or contractor access to the right doors at the right hours, and turn it off in seconds when someone leaves. Every entry is logged.
Video intercom and visitor entry
See and talk to visitors and couriers before you let them in, from the front desk or your phone. Good for offices with a locked suite door, medical practices and buildings with a shared lobby.
Burglar alarms
Door contacts, motion sensors and glass-break detectors that alert you, and a monitoring center if you choose, when someone gets in after hours. Many insurers require one, and some offer a discount for it.
One system, one app
The real value comes when these work together. A door opened after hours triggers the alarm and pulls up the camera at that door. Each access log entry links to video of who walked in. We design the system so you manage everything from one place, not four apps from four vendors.
Security Systems by Business Type
| Business | Common problems | What we usually install |
|---|---|---|
| Offices | Shared keys, tailgating, visitors wandering in, after-hours access | Fob or phone access at the suite door, video intercom at reception, cameras at entrances |
| Retail stores | Shoplifting, register disputes, break-ins, employee theft | Cameras on registers, aisles and the storefront, burglar alarm, access control on the stock room |
| Restaurants and bars | Back-door theft, deliveries, late closing, cash handling | Cameras on the back door, bar and register, door alarm, access control for staff entry |
| Warehouses and light industrial | Large areas, loading docks, vehicles, inventory loss | Long-range and license plate cameras, gate and dock access control, intrusion alarm |
| Medical and dental practices | Patient privacy, medication and records rooms, visitor screening | Video intercom at the entry, access control on records and supply rooms, cameras in common areas only |
| Commercial and mixed-use buildings | Many tenants, shared lobby, contractor access, liability | Building-wide access control with tenant-by-tenant permissions, lobby video intercom, camera coverage of common areas |
Every business is different. During the free assessment we look at your doors, layout, hours and risks, then recommend only what you need.
For property managers and building owners
If you manage a commercial or mixed-use building, we can give each tenant control of its own suite while you keep control of the lobby, garage and common doors, all on one system. When a tenant moves out, you turn off their access without changing a lock.
Getting It Right in NYC
Commercial security in New York comes with rules that out-of-town installers and DIY kits often miss.
People must always be able to get out. Electric locks on exit doors need a way to open them from inside (a push button, motion sensor or exit bar), must release if the power fails, and often must release when the fire alarm goes off. We design door hardware to meet fire and building code, and coordinate with your fire alarm company where a tie-in is required.
Cameras stay out of private areas. New York law bars video recording in restrooms, locker rooms and changing rooms. We cover entrances, sales floors, stock rooms and common areas, and add privacy masks where a view reaches somewhere it shouldn't.
Audio recording needs care. Recording conversations can raise eavesdropping issues that video doesn't. We leave audio off unless there's a clear reason and proper notice.
Your landlord and building have a say. Most commercial leases require landlord approval for alterations, and many Manhattan buildings require a certificate of insurance before any contractor starts work. We provide our insurance certificate and can work with your building's management.
Some work needs other trades. New power circuits and fire alarm connections may need a licensed electrician or a fire alarm contractor. We tell you up front if your project does, and coordinate the work.

Service After Installation
A security system is only useful if it keeps working. We fix cameras that drop offline, readers that stop unlocking and alarms that false-alarm, and we handle adding doors, cameras and users as your business grows. We also take over systems installed by other companies.
