Intercom Repair Queens
Door won't buzz open? A whole line of apartments can't hear the lobby? Impera repairs audio, video and app-based intercoms across Queens: six-story co-ops, garden-apartment complexes, two-family houses, condos and storefronts.
We trace the fault to its real cause (a failed door release, a bad riser, a dead amplifier or power supply), repair it, and test every station before we leave. We also service systems installed by other companies.

What Breaks in Queens Buildings, and How We Fix It
Six-story co-ops in Forest Hills, Rego Park, Kew Gardens and Jackson Heights. Many still run the intercom installed when the building went up, with a central amplifier and wiring that climbs the risers. When one vertical line of apartments goes silent, the cause is usually a broken riser connection or a failing amplifier channel, not the stations themselves. We find the break and repair it without opening every apartment.
Garden-apartment complexes in Bayside, Fresh Meadows, Flushing and Briarwood. Each building has its own entrance panel, often on its own power supply, and weather gets into outdoor panels and buried cable. A single entrance that stops calling usually points to water damage or a failed panel. We repair the problem entrance and check the others while we're there.
Two- and three-family houses in Astoria, Woodside, Elmhurst, Ridgewood and Ozone Park. Simple systems, simple failures: a buzzer that hums but won't open the door, a cracked doorbell button, a transformer that died. Most are fixed in one visit for a fraction of the cost of a new system.
Condos and new rentals in Long Island City, Astoria and Downtown Flushing. App-based and IP intercoms fail differently: a panel that dropped off the network, residents not getting calls on their phones, or a directory out of sync. We fix many of these remotely, and the rest in one visit.
Storefronts and mixed-use buildings along Queens Boulevard, Steinway Street and Main Street. We keep the residential and business entrances working separately, and repair door releases that take a beating from daily deliveries.
Common Intercom Problems We Repair
No sound, static or weak audio at apartment stations or the entrance panel
Door release not working: electric strikes, release buttons, relays and their wiring
Some apartments not ringing, or calls reaching the wrong unit
Video problems: dark, blurry or missing picture on monitors
Power supply and amplifier failures that take down part or all of the system
App-based intercom issues: offline panels, missed phone calls, directory errors

Repair or Replace?
We repair first whenever it makes sense. Replacement is the better call when parts for an older system are no longer made, when the same problem keeps coming back, or when the board wants video, phone answering or delivery codes. If that's where it lands, we'll show you options that reuse your existing wiring. Many Queens co-ops can get monitors in every apartment without new cable runs.
A full replacement for the building owner can also qualify as a capital improvement, which makes it exempt from New York sales tax.
